I lead an innovation department primarily addressing business needs in the clinical laboratory- and point-of-care diagnostics space. The highly qualified team provides in-house solutions for technology scouting, acquisition, development, and implementation. We identify opportunities, assist with strategy roadmaps, provide solutions through external acquisition, collaborations, and through internal development building functional demonstrator systems.

I am responsible for the disciplinary, scientific, technical, and operational leadership of several interdisciplinary project teams, consisting of biologists, biochemists, physicists, engineers, and technicians, and overseeing compliance in the areas of safety, security and sound management practices. I negotiate with our internal clients, proposing, acquiring, planning, defining and executing a project pipe-line, agreeing high-level definition and resourcing.

• Led and managed a large multidisciplinary team across several projects, developing and integrating the detection subsystem of a clinical live diagnostics instrument from concept to certified product • Leadership team member: supervised all technical and strategic areas of platform development and requirements towards launch • Accountable for project and resource management, deliverables, and documentation in an ISO 13485 certified quality system

• Start-up core team: Led planning, allocated resources and reported targets and progress on the executive, director and investor level, as well as to external development partners • Led project teams and contributed directly to the prototype development of three independent novel DNA sequencing systems

Designed and realized every aspect of a novel protein-pore DNA strand sequencing concept in close collaboration with Oxford Nanopore Technologies

• Collaborated with industry and academic groups to aid antimicrobial development and develop novel antibiotic susceptibility diagnostics • Developed a novel fluorescence targeting assay to study bacterial antibiotic penetration, accelerating preclinical drug screening

• Close collaboration with start-up companies: i.a. a novel low-noise planar patch clamp system (Nanion), and fluidic control (Fluigent) • Experimentally verified a de novo computational drug design pathway, coordinating with modelling, synthetic pharmaceutical development and drug trials of academic and industry partners (Basilea Pharmaceutica, Bioversys, GSK) • Created immuno-targeted beads for chemotherapeutic drug delivery • Lectured and oversaw practical courses in bio- and physical sciences
