Evaluating technical cooperation projects in support of EBRD investments in energy, transport, finance and business, and municipal infrastructure. Drafting methodologies to assess the impact of capacity building projects, including independent on-site evaluation interviews with beneficiaries. Conducting preliminary analysis and research on related topics: civil society development, post-Soviet decentralization, the local administration’s increasing role, gender equality in the nine countries of operations.

Managed institutional relations: liaised with Romanian officials to ensure the successful Romanian rotating presidency of the CEI. Engaged in policy advocacy for the liberalization of the Romanian market in light of the economic downturn. Assessed the impact of CEI technical cooperation projects in support of EBRD investments over a 16-year period. Coordinated with representatives of multilateral development banks and with officials of various governments for the organization of CEI annual events.

Developed and maintained effective relations with donors, to promote the mobilization and utilization of funds. Researched current and potential donors, to fine-tune fundraising strategies, thus NPR raised 38% ($2.6M) of its goal for individual giving in FY09 in the first 3 months. Co-wrote and managed grant proposals allowing NPR to budget for FY09 as much as for FY08 ($15M) in spite of the unfolding economic crisis. Organized Weekend in Washington, NPR’s most important annual fund-raising event.

Evaluated the oil industry and conducted scenario analyses based on the top bids for the privatization of the Romanian National Oil Company (Petrom), leading to Austrian OMV’s acquisition of 51% of shares for €670M. Assisted in consultations with trade unions, NGOs and other civil society organizations, for the privatization of Petrom. Drafted ROI metrics, and profit maximization / breakeven strategies for the modernization of a rural hospital. Analyzed the retail banking and brokerage sectors in Romania.

Conducted competitive intelligence on the emerging Romanian market for the multinational company’s strategic plan for expansion. This resulted in establishing a local subsidiary in Bucharest, Romania. Assessed potential clients and analyzed the firm’s sources of competitive advantage in the new market. Established contact with leaders in relevant Romanian industries: nuclear energy, transportation, water management, oil, urban planning.

The process of Europeanization; the European security approach, European Neighborhood Policy, with a focus on Lebanon and whether economic reforms might lead to security.

Concentration: Economics, Political Economy and Business. Relevant research included the former Soviet Union between the rule of law and the market; the Turkish banking system in the context of the country's E.U. accession prospects; remittances as generators of stability in Central Asia.
