The title of the thesis was 'Development of a Catalytic Active Filter Material for Selective Catalytic Reduction of Nitrogen Oxides' The goal was to develop a process to produce catalytically active filter material(-s) for NOx-removal from flue gas. The tasks include the development of a synthesis method of a suitable catalyst and a process to activate a suitable fibrous substrate with this catalyst. At the end of the 8-months-long employment period, the abovementioned goal was achieved.

In the thesis, plausible ways to reduce the CO2-emission of a powerplant complex in the city of Mannheim were explored. Technical and financial feasibility of various optimisation options were assessed.

The main task was the maintenance and the optimisation of a biological waste water treatment facility.
