Job Duties:

Distribution Clerk duties include but not limited to:
• Boxes weighting between 50-60 pounds must be lifted on a regular basis.
• Pick up and deliver boxes and files to a variety of locations to ensure efficient delivery and receipt of customer’s requests.
• Maintain cleanliness of storage facilities and assist with building maintenance issues as needed.
• Operate a forklift
• Pick up and deliver City records daily to a variety of City of Virginia Beach and Virginia Beach City Public Schools to ensure efficient delivery of customer’s requests.
• Pre-sort delivery items to ensure efficient receipt
• Assist in the delivery of special items for other city departments as needed.
•Correctly receive library materials using a library materials automated machine.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationship with customers.
• Operate and maintain assigned vehicle according to safety standards and preventive maintenance recommendations to reduce repairs and ensure maximum daily usage.
• Monitor the security of the records in the warehouse.
• Identify available shelf locations and keep track of spaces for boxes of files at the records center
• Pull requested files, track and coordinate those files for the purpose of refiling.

• Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs..

Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUMS: Requires high school or GED plus two (2) years experience in fields utilizing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with such positions as distribution clerk, postal employee, or warehouse delivery clerk. Must have a current and valid driver's license. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
Job requirement is to operate a forklift, this position will be designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory drug testing (as designated by PCN). Position drug test results may result in counseling and/or discipline, up to and including, termination. Must also successfully complete a pre-employment physical.
Must maintain or obtain forklift certification within 90 days of employment.
Additional Requirements:
