Über diesen Job
At Roche you can show up as yourself, embraced for the unique qualities you bring. Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections, where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.
The Position
The Roche Institute of Human Biology (IHB) in Basel, Switzerland, is seeking a Post Doctorate Scientist to join the Organoid Systems Biology (OSB) group. The OSB group studies the mechanisms of tissue homeostasis and organization in disease development and therapeutic response by integrating state-of-the-art computer science with quantitative molecular cell biology. The group is particularly interested in understanding the dynamics of homeostatic regulation; we develop functional imaging and analytical frameworks to probe and analyze the structure of molecular circuits in situ, leveraging organoids as experimentally controllable models of complex tissue physiologies.
The Opportunity
As a Post Doctorate Scientist, you will pursue your research within the IHB’s open-lab environment. You will join the Molecular Probing Team, embedded in the OSB group alongside approximately six experimental biologists and six computer scientists. As a member of the OSB, you will have the opportunity to drive scientific discovery by leveraging the highly collaborative environment within the IHB.
Scientific Leadership: Lead projects investigating mechanisms governing organ development, pathogenesis, or drug resistance using advanced imaging in organoid systems.
Innovation: Utilize your creativity to drive and achieve meaningful research goals defined within the broader mission of Roche’s Research and Early Development (pRED) programs.
Collaboration: Actively contribute to and spearhead multidisciplinary initiatives within the group and across the Institute.
Mentorship: Supervise Ph.D. and Master’s students, fostering a culture of learning and professional development.
Communication: Contribute to the preparation of high-impact scientific manuscripts and presentations for national and international conferences.
Who You Are
You thrive in a dynamic, inclusive environment that grants you full accountability for your contributions, development, and success. You are resourceful and creative in problem-solving within a collaborative setting. Furthermore, you foster a culture of mutual support, cross-training, and continuous self-improvement.
Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Biotechnology, Developmental Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field. Candidates should be early-career researchers who completed their Ph.D. within the last four years.
A strong passion for and commitment to fundamental, impactful research.
Excellent observational and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
A robust background in Molecular Biology, Stem Cell Biology, and Functional Imaging.
Familiarity with techniques such as advanced organoid models and Spatial Omics.
Expertise in Quantitative Live-Cell Microscopy.
Proficiency in scientific data analysis, with the ability to work effectively within a team of computational biologists.
Proven research capabilities, evidenced by prior publications, including the ability to design, execute, and interpret study results.
Outstanding communication skills, with professional fluency in both spoken and written English.
Proven ability to manage priorities strategically while maintaining a focus on detail.
Adaptability and open-mindedness, with a readiness to adjust direction as research evolves.
The ability to work autonomously, rapidly establish professional networks, and build strong working relationships.
Additional Information:
To be considered, your application must include:
Research Statement: A summary of past and future work, briefly outlining completed projects relevant to the requirements above and your research goals at IHB (max. 2 pages).
Current CV: Including a full list of publications.
References: Contact details for two references who can describe your character and scientific expertise.
Ph.D. Diploma/Certificate: Official documentation of your degree (if already obtained).
Timeline: The position starts as soon as possible (or upon availability). Please specify your preferred start date in your cover letter. The initial duration is 2 years, with the potential for extension.
