Postdoctoral position in Biopharmacy (100%)

Über diesen Job

100 % / available from May 1st, 2026

The Biopharmacy group at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences investigates mechanisms underlying drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion. A central focus of our research is the role of drug transporters and drug-metabolizing enzymes in these processes. Both transporters and enzymes are influenced by multiple factors, including naturally occurring genetic variants, which contribute to interindividual differences in drug response and safety.
We employ a translational approach that integrates preclinical in vitro and in vivo studies with clinical investigations in our mechanistic research. Our goal is to identify predictive factors that determine a molecule's pharmacokinetic behavior and, ultimately, therapeutic outcomes.

Your position

We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our interdisciplinary team. The position offers you the opportunity to develop and perform research within the framework of our ongoing studies on drug ADME, pharmacogenetics, and/or pharmacokinetics.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Explore, develop, and conceptualize research questions and experimental strategies to elucidate the role of drug transporters and/or metabolizing enzymes in drug disposition.
  • Critically analyze data, drive the publication of results in peer-reviewed journals, and present findings at national and international scientific meetings.
  • Actively contribute to a collaborative research environment, including the supervision and mentoring of junior researchers.
  • Contribute to teaching activities in Biopharmacy, fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment.
  • Foster and manage relationships with internal and external partners to support collaborative research efforts and ensure strategic alignment

Your profile

  • PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences or closely related fields
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Curious, open minded and highly motivated to excel in scientific research
  • Strong background in pharmacokinetics
  • Experience with in vivo animal or clinical studies
  • Proven publication record including at least two first-author publication in a reputable, international peer reviewed journal
  • Prior expertise in analytical techniques and/or molecular biology is considered an asset

We offer you

We offer a stimulating position in an international and interdisciplinary environment. Our lab is located in the Pharmacenter, a vivid interactive place with multiple groups working in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The 100% position will be available from May 1st, 2026. The position offers salary according to the university's regulations. The position starts with a 1-year contract that can be renewed for an additional year.
Application / Contact

We are looking forward to receiving your online application until March 1st, 2026 including the following documents:
  • CV
  • A motivation letter (maximum 2 pages) describing your previous research
  • A concise outline (maximum 1 page) of a potential research idea the applicant would be interested in developing within the Biopharmacy research group.
  • Names and contact information (email or phone) of 3 references

Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted through our online application portal.
Applications via email, postal services or agencies will not be considered.
For additional information please contact Prof. Dr. Henriette Meyer zu Schwabedissen by email (h.meyerzuschwabedissen@unibas.ch).
