Together with our client, a Berlin‑based software company that develops automated solutions to simplify tax compliance for cross‑border e‑commerce, we are looking for a forward thinking AI Software Engineer (m/f/d) in Berlin with solid experience in AI-driven engineering (especially Claude Code).

By combining cloud technology, data integration and expert knowledge, our client enables online retailers to manage registrations, filings and ongoing tax obligations across multiple European markets efficiently and with minimal manual effort.

The engineering team is looking to dive deeper into the aspect of implementing AI-driven engineering into their workflow, and have already successfully designed and developed new functionalities for their product. If you are an experienced, technologically open minded Software Engineer with a passion for AI-driven engineering and solid experience with Claude Coding, we are looking for you!

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend and frontend components within a serverless AWS architecture
• Apply AI‑driven development approaches, using Claude AI to accelerate coding, refactoring, testing, and documentation
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and architecture teams in a forward‑deployed engineering mindset
• Contribute to system design decisions for distributed systems at scale
• Work across a heterogeneous tech stack (e.g. PHP, TypeScript, React, Python), switching languages where it makes sense
• Follow and continuously improve GitFlow, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering processes
• Ensure high standards around code quality, reliability, and maintainability

Technical Environment:

• Cloud: AWS (serverless-first mindset)
• Architecture: Event‑driven, scalable systems; not overly complex but production‑grade
• Languages: Currently we use a mix of PHP, TypeScript, React, Python (no single‑language specialization required)
• AI Tooling: Claude AI as an active development companion
• Processes: GitFlow, modern software engineering best practices

What We’re Looking For:

• Senior‑level experience as a software engineer, ideally in a software or SaaS company
• Proven experience working with AWS infrastructure and cloud‑native systems
• Comfortable working with multiple programming languages rather than deep specialization in one
• Experience building and operating systems at scale
• Strong understanding of engineering processes, version control, and collaborative development
• Curiosity and openness toward AI‑assisted engineering workflows
• Pragmatic, outcome‑oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership

Nice to Have:

• Experience with serverless architectures (e.g. Lambda‑based systems)
• Exposure to AI‑augmented development or internal developer platforms
• Familiarity with forward‑deployed or customer‑close engineering models
