As CSU (Clinical Study Unit) Cluster Head within our Clinical Study Unit in GSA, you’ll be a strategic leader responsible for managing and optimizing clinical study operations across Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Ready to get started?

Main responsibilities:

The CSU Cluster Head is responsible for the organization, management and leadership of the CSU in Germany, a key strategic market in Europe. While the CSU is physically established in Germany only, this role oversees the delivery of clinical trials across Switzerland and Austria as part of the GSA cluster. S/he supports and facilitates all clinical study activity in his/her Cluster and is responsible for ensuring clinical studies are performed according to deadlines, commitment, quality and cost efficiency. S/he ensures that the Cluster countries are aligned to the strategic company priorities and evolution of the business, developing its Cluster strategy aligned to global clinical development and medical plans.

The Cluster Head assumes the role of CSU Country Head and its corresponding job description for the country s/he is based in with appropriate management support based on span of control.

The aim of the CSU Cluster Head role is:
  • Leadership of the internal and external CSO/R&D representation in the Cluster.
  • Define the strategy to implement Sanofi clinical study pipeline in the Cluster.
  • Define the business development strategy with the key Investigators, KOLs and their institutions.
  • Provide clinical development expertise to Medical Affairs to implement global and local postmarketing studies.
  • Integrate medical and scientific intelligence to contribute to the Global Development strategy.
  • Foster digital innovation and drive change management in collaboration with medical communities.
  • Define strategy for the future of clinical trials, including the evolution of the business.
  • Lead and contribute to global CSU and CSO workstreams.
  • Ensure business and strategy continuity; optimize quality, cost efficiency and speed of the clinical studies in the Cluster.
  • Member of the Regional CSU LT and support development of Regional CSU Business strategy.
  • Member of the Cluster/MCO (Multi Country Organization) Medical Leadership Team and MRPQ (Medical, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, Quality) where appropriate.

About you

Clinical & Leadership Expertise:
  • Advanced knowledge of drug development and clinical trial design
  • Proven track record in cross-functional leadership and people management
  • Strong understanding of ICH-GCP and regulatory requirements
Strategic & Business Skills:
  • Advanced business acumen and strategic planning capabilities
  • Experience in budget management and risk assessment
  • Change management expertise and digital innovation mindset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Local Expertise & Relationship Building:
  • In-depth knowledge of local clinical trial ecosystem
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with regulators and healthcare professionals
  • Experience in influencing local stakeholders and driving country strategies
  • Understanding of local healthcare landscape and regulatory environment
Education: University degree, postgraduate Master's or PhD in nature science, pharmacy, medicine or related

Languages: English and German business fluent
