We are seeking to hire a proactive and highly motivated PhD student to join our ERC-Project PRIME. Employment is intended to start on February 1, 2026 at the Greifswald site.
Doctoral candidate (f/m/d)
Redox-Proteomics
(initially) limited to 36 months with the option to extend for additional 12 months / Weekly working time 26 hours / Remuneration according to TV-L remuneration group 13 (gross salary range depending on professional experience, see remuneration table 2025)
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify oxidative changes in proteins and correlate them with a biological/immunological cell response;
- Cell culture of immune cells and molecular biological measurement methods (including flow cytometry);
- Measurement of oxidized proteins using mass spectrometry and evaluation of post-translational modifications;
- Investigation of various oxidants and cold plasmas and their influence on proteins and their immunogenicity;
- Analysis, interpretation and presentation of collected data and participation in the preparation of scientific publications;
- Exchange and discussion of results within the team.
YOUR PROFILE:
- Completed university degree in natural sciences (Master of Science or equivalent) in biology, (bio)chemistry, bioinformatics or a related field
- High affinity to data and large-data-driven science, as well as strong logical reasoning
- Experience with bioanalytical methods (mass spectrometry, flow cytometry) desired
- Strong interest in interdisciplinary research on cellular and immunological recognition and mechanisms of oxidized proteins
- Flexibility in scientific activities in the laboratory and office
- Problem-solving skills in decoding relations between bioinformatic, biochemical and biological data sets
- Pre-existing competencies in bioinformatics, especially in mass spectrometry and programming skills (coding) are highly desired
- High degree of commitment, motivation, independent work, teamwork skills, sense of responsibility and reliability
- Very good knowledge of English (written and spoken) and preferably also German
