We are looking for a Commercial Training & Education (CT&E) Manager to support our commercial organization in DACH for our Business Unit Advanced Wound Management (AWM). This position is designed to impact our growth initiatives and to enable sales development activities in the commercial organization. The primary success measures for this role are to train, equip, and certify the sales force employees on Smith+Nephew’s relevant products, relevant procedural knowledge, surgical and treatment pathways as well as vital enablement/selling and commercial skills to enable our sales teams to exceed sales quota. Understanding and alignment on the AWM portfolio and customer base is a key metric. This role will have primary responsibility for the German-speaking markets (DACH).
This is a highly skilled role requiring extensive experience, subject matter expertise on selling skills, sales effectiveness skills, and the comprehensive skillset to drive commercial understanding and differentiation with customers. Experience and exposure to Smith & Nephew's portfolio, value propositions, competitive market, and clinical competence are highly beneficial and if not possessed at the time of hire will be required learning and upskilling.
You will be part of the Commercial Training & Education Team and you will report to the Senior Director for our Business Unit AWM in the International Markets.
As a highly valued colleague is retiring, we are looking for a successor to take over her position. Our preferred start date is 1st June 2026 to allow for a period of handover.
Location: Germany, field based
What will you be doing?
Training Delivery & Field Coaching Activity (for new and tenured sales professionals; activities can be live instructor-led courses, virtual classrooms, and field-based training/coaching)
Run learning events (classroom, webinar, field-based, etc.) on our LMS platform
Ensure that all members of the sales team are certified in the knowledge, skills, and behaviors needed to win (e.g., product, clinical and procedural knowledge, primary competitors and how to win against them, selling skills, negotiation skills, business planning, tenders)
Join the Commercial team on field visits to ensure the right implementation of both product/clinical competence as well as sales enablement skills’ implementation
Act as a mentor and role model for Sales Representatives & Regional Sales Managers and encourage a culture of continuous learning and development (e.g. cultivating a culture of coaching, implementing solid metrics that will be automated on CRM or Learning Management Systems)
Develop strategic and tactical plans for your area of Commercial Training & Education
What will you need to be successful?
8+ years of experience working in sales, preferably in Smith & Nephew or related med device industry or
5+ years working in learning / training related fields
Demonstrated expertise and understanding of S+N products (especially NPWT), clinical pathways, surgical procedural knowledge, and competitive landscape
Sophisticated skills in facilitation and presentation (especially adult learning and/or interactive learning)
Commercial selling skills, business acumen and strong ability to work in autonomy
Problem-solving and analytical skills required to uncover the root causes and develop improvement initiatives
Savviness in using IT tools (e.g. MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, CRM system)
Very good language skills in both English & German (written/spoken)
Willingness to travel (up to 50% depending on location, mostly national travelling)
