The Centre for Organismal Studies (COS) at Heidelberg University is seeking to fill a part-time position (50%) in the group of Prof. Centanin, starting immediately. The position is initially limited until September 30, 2028. Technical assistant (f/m/d) BTA/MTA/Biological Laboratory Technician Your tasks:
- You will breed fish lines, screen them for specific expression patterns and analyze them according to defined parameters
- You will take on general tasks in the fish room, like tank cleaning, replacing filters, etc.
- You will assist scientists in producing and maintaining mutant and transgenic fish lines
- You will carry out immunofluorescent staining and imaging using fluorescent scopes and confocal microscopes
- You will assist in general tasks in laboratory organization
Your profile:
- You have gained experience handling small fish models like zebrafish or medaka
- You have performed immunohistochemestry / immunofluoresce, RNA in situ hybridisation and are familiar with imaging methods
- You are proficient in molecular biology techniques such as RT-PCR, genomic PCR, nucleic acid purification
- You have experience in cell culture using both cell lines and primary cultures
- You are familiar with data analysis programs and have basic knowledge of R programming
- You are fluent in English, can work in a team, and are open to interact with international peers
