The Chair of Behavioral Research Methods at the Technical University of Munich is seeking a postdoctoral researcher (100%) in food choice and process tracing. The position requires experience in cognitive processes underlying food choice, context effects, experimental research, quantitative analysis, computational modeling, and eye tracking. Applications must be submitted by email no later than May 1, 2026.
The Chair of Behavioral Research Methods (Prof. Thorsten Pachur) at the TUM School of Management, Technical University of Munich, is seeking applicants for a postdoc position (100%) in food choice and process tracing.
Candidates should have an interest in cognitive processes underlying food choice, context effects, and the impact of physiological processes on decision-making. Experience with computational modeling, especially dynamic models such as drift-diffusion modeling, and eye tracking is expected. Strong skills in experimental methods, quantitative analysis, statistics, and programming languages such as R, Matlab, or Python are highly desirable.
Requirements:
- Candidates should have completed (or be completing) a doctoral degree in psychology or cognitive science.
- Interest in cognitive processes underlying food choice, context effects, and the impact of physiological processes on decision-making.
- Experience with computational modeling, especially dynamic models such as drift-diffusion modeling, and eye tracking.
- Strong skills in experimental methods, quantitative analysis, statistics, and programming languages such as R, Matlab, or Python are highly desirable.
Responsibilities include conducting high-quality research and supporting the chair’s teaching and supervision activities.
After an initial trial period, the position is available for 23 months with the possibility of extension. The working language is English. The position offers a stimulating and multidisciplinary research environment, attractive remuneration under TV-L E14, and the opportunity to work at the intersection of cognitive science and behavioral economics. The position is available from August 2026 onwards.
For full consideration, applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, and one representative paper as a single PDF file by email to office.brm@mgt.tum.de no later than May 1, 2026.
