surge aero GmbH is developing high-performance propulsion systems and UAV platforms for the European market. We are building a highly experienced engineering team focused on developing and delivering flight-ready aerospace systems.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our UAV development team and contribute directly to the design, integration, and production of our aircraft.

Tasks

In this role, your initial focus will include:

• Structural dimensioning and development of the aircraft/UAV frame
• Designing aircraft structures with a strong focus on production and manufacturability
• Integrating sensors and actuators within a fixed-size airframe
• Developing and optimizing mechanical components and assemblies
• Performing structural analysis and supporting design verification
• Working closely with electrical, systems, production, and other engineering teams
• Supporting the transition from engineering concepts to production-ready solutions

Requirements

Your Qualifications

Required

• Professional experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in aerospace, aviation, UAV/UAS, or a related field
• Experience with CAD, with SolidWorks preferred
• Experience in aircraft or aerospace design
• Practical experience with FEM / Finite Element Analysis
• Ability to understand structural requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Experience

• 3+ years of relevant professional experience preferred
• Senior candidates are very welcome to apply
• Experience in UAV/UAS development, aircraft structures, or aerospace production is a strong advantage

Optional:

Experience with composite design

Experience with 3D printed components
