Structural Analysis Engineer – Space Hardware (m/f/d)
Über diesen Job
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Structural Analysis Engineer to join a specialist engineering team working on advanced space hardware and satellite structures.
In this role, you will perform structural and mechanical analyses, develop and validate finite element models, and contribute to the verification of complex structures designed for demanding space environments.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, supporting technical decisions and delivering reliable structural analysis results throughout the development process.
This opportunity is particularly suited to engineers with practical experience in the European space industry and a strong technical background in finite element analysis.
Your Responsibilities
Perform structural and mechanical analyses of complex space hardware and satellite structures
Develop, build and validate finite element models using ANSYS and FEMAP/NASTRAN
Conduct static, dynamic and thermal analyses
Interpret simulation results and assess structural performance and limitations
Perform independent hand calculations and analytical verification
Prepare detailed technical reports, calculations and presentations
Support engineering and design decisions through data-driven structural analysis
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to technical project milestones
Improve simulation workflows, calculation methods and automation processes
What We're Looking For
Essential requirements:
At least 3 years of professional structural analysis experience within the space industry
A Master's degree or PhD in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a comparable discipline
Strong practical expertise in ANSYS, particularly ANSYS APDL
Hands-on experience with FEMAP and NASTRAN
Experience analysing structural hardware for space applications, ideally spacecraft or satellite structures
Programming or automation experience using Python, MATLAB, Octave or FORTRAN
Strong hand-calculation skills and proficiency in Excel
Experience with Git or comparable version-control tools
Excellent English communication skills (C1 level)
Willingness to work primarily onsite in the Munich area
Additional advantages:
Experience with non-linear finite element analysis
Familiarity with ESA/ECSS structural verification standards
Experience with complex structural and thermal analysis challenges
German language skills at B2 level
Existing EU work authorisation
What You'll Get
Competitive annual salary between €60,000 and €85,000 gross, depending on experience and qualifications
Additional discretionary performance bonus, potentially paid twice annually
Permanent employment with a full-time working week of 40 hours
Modern engineering facilities and a collaborative international team
Opportunity to contribute to advanced space hardware and satellite programmes
Flexible working hours
Possibility of one work-from-home day per week following the initial onboarding period
Professional development opportunities within a specialist space engineering environment
Long-term involvement in European space programmes
Interested?
If you have hands-on structural analysis experience in the space industry and strong expertise in ANSYS and FEMAP/NASTRAN, we'd love to hear from you.
