Who are we looking for? Future Of Us is seeking to hire a team of canvassers to engage with our base of young Asian voters ages 18 - 35 constituents on various issues including but not limited to Reproductive Justice and Election. The canvassers will be a critical component of our community engagement work that directly impacts youth and young people. Our team of canvassers will lead our direct community engagement efforts on the phones. This is a seasonal temporary position from March through November.
Position Summary The Phone Canvasser is someone who understands the goals and metrics that have been set and is capable of meeting these goals and metrics. The Phone Canvasser is someone that’s able to step in and support other canvassers through shared best practices and identify key challenges that need to be uplifted for the Field Manager. As part of our organizational values of growth and constructive feedback, the Phone Canvasser is expected to share feedback and suggestions to further our approach to canvassing and engaging with our communities on important issues.
Hourly Pay and Benefits Future Of Us has a tiered pay scale ranging from hourly to salary positions that are based on Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) every other year, and pay equity and economic justice. Pay equity is the principle of providing equal compensation to employees who perform comparable work, regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, or other protected characteristics. It ensures that compensation is based on job responsibilities and performance, without bias or discrimination. Economic Justice creates opportunities for all to succeed regardless of sex, race, age, disability, color, creed, national origin, religion, or genetic information. This position is a 12 hours/week part-time, onsite, non-exempt position, including some evenings and weekends. Benefits include: annual accrual PTO hours and eligible Simple IRA Plan. The pay range for this position is $20 per hour, based on canvassing hours that are related to educational and advocacy on social issues through phone calls, and potential to grow.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
Complete weekly phone canvassing shifts, and meeting weekly goals
Engage in phone conversations with our base, and gauge level of awareness of issues and challenges that our community faces in regards to the specific issues
Collect and record data from phone conversations in trackers
Provide feedback, strategies, and troubleshooting efforts to achieve best approaches to community engagement, and achieving team goals
Sustaining a positive teamwork, and peer to peer learning environment
Occasional or as necessary, meetings with the Field Manager and Data to best understand needs, support and expectations.
Must haves for the position
At least 1 year of experience in canvassing, community organizing, teamwork and /or customer service and data entry
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment, taking ownership, and initiative with minimal direction.
Experience in meeting and interacting with new people, and people of all backgrounds and identities
Strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal) including ability to articulate progress, concerns, and recommendations in a concise and timely manner.
Nice haves for the position
Fluent and able to have a conversation on the local election in the following Asian ethnic language: Karen, and Hmong
Experience in utilizing Voter Action Network, GetThru (Thrutalk, Thrutext), and Google Suite/Doc
Experience in navigating difficult conversations and accomplishing weekly team goals
Excellent interpersonal, team building, and problem-solving skills.
