British American Tobacco Austria has an exciting opportunity for a Forecasting & Planning Specialist (m/w/d) in Vienna
This role leads local demand forecasting and planning to ensure accurate, data‑driven predictions across multiple product categories. The Forecasting & Planning Specialist partners closely with Supply Chain and commercial teams to balance availability, inventory, and cost efficiency. The role supports fact‑based decision‑making, reduces risk, and helps deliver strong customer and consumer outcomes.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Own and deliver accurate, multi‑category demand forecasts across short‑, mid‑, and long‑term horizons (weekly to 3–5 years).
- Develop and execute demand forecasting strategies, including customer and channel‑level planning, using advanced tools (e.g., Kinaxis).
- Collaborate with Finance, Supply Chain, Insights, Category, Trade Marketing, and Consumer Experience to align demand plans with business priorities.
- Lead demand‑related discussions in local and Area forums, ensuring transparency on risks, opportunities, and performance vs. targets.
- Drive continuous improvement in forecast accuracy, bias reduction, and planning responsiveness.
- Support inventory optimization by minimizing out‑of‑stocks and excess inventory.
- Deliver scenarios and business cases for launches, promotions, and other initiatives.
- Identify demand risks early and develop mitigation and contingency plans.
- Simplify forecasting and reporting processes and improve ways of working.
What are we looking for?
- 2+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or related roles, ideally within FMCG.
- Proven experience delivering accurate forecasts and supporting inventory management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into clear insights and recommendations.
- Experience working cross‑functionally and influencing multiple stakeholders in a matrix environment.
- Structured, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working independently in a dynamic environment.
- Confident communicator who can explain complex information clearly and concisely.
- University degree in Business, Marketing, Statistics, Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with BI and planning systems required.
- Experience with Kinaxis is an advantage.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
