At the Institute of Chemical Technologies and Analytics , in the Research Group Inorganic Materials, TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: May 2026.

At the Institute of Chemical Technologies and Analytics , in the Research Group Inorganic Materials, TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: May 2026.
Tasks:
- Research in the field of inorganic composites with a focus on innovative and sustainable processing and material concepts
- Investigation of process-structure-property relationships using experimental and/or model-based methods
- Contribution to the development of new material systems, taking into account sustainability and resource efficiency considerations
- Experimental fabrication and characterization of materials, particularly using powder metallurgical processes as well as modern analytical and microscopy methods
- Participation in research and teaching activities, as well as involvement in examinations
- Active involvement in the design and further development of courses, as well as support in the implementation of innovative teaching concepts
- (Co-)Supervision of students, particularly in laboratory courses
- Writing a dissertation and academic publications
- Participation in academic events
- Assistance with organizational and administrative tasks
- Participation in the activities of the research group
Your profile:
- A master’s or diploma degree in a relevant field, such as (Technical) Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, or a related discipline
- Experience in scientific research
- Excellent English skills (at least B2 level); German skills are advantageous
- Interest in research in the field of inorganic composite materials
- Solid knowledge and experience in practical work in a chemical laboratory
- Practical experience and knowledge in the areas of sustainable materials development and circular economy, thermodynamic modeling (e.g., CALPHAD), powder metallurgy processes, materials characterization (e.g., thermal analysis, microscopy), and metal binders or cemented carbides are an advantage
- Strong interest and high motivation for teaching and working with students
- Structured, reliable, and independent work style
- Strong teamwork skills, problem-solving ability, and innovative thinking, as well as a willingness to engage with new topics and methods
