The OECD outlined two “equally probable scenarios” for the world economy yesterday. In the “single-hit scenario”, a second wave of coronavirus pandemic is avoided. Global economic activity would fall -6% in 2020, with unemployment rates jumping to 9.2%. In the “double-hit scenario”, world economic output would plummet -7.6% this year, before climbing back 2.8% in 2021. https://bit.ly/2Ap3OqQ

More than half of the companies in our Scorable universe (52%) are now in SRD*-classes 4 and 5 and hence at a significant risk of downgrade. In the past four weeks, the number of companies in SRD-classes 4 and 5 has risen by 51%, reflecting the spike in credit risk. This trend is consistent across all regions as exhibited in our graph below. *SRD= Scorable Rating Downgrade
