    Fraunhofer-Institut für Windenergiesysteme

    Validated numerical wind models (WRF, LES) against ~1 year of SCADA data to assess simulation accuracy. Automated analysis of large-scale wind datasets in Python (pandas/xarray/NumPy) and supported engineering wake modeling with FOXES. Performed wind farm layout and AEP optimization studies to reduce wake losses (FOXES). Master’s thesis: assessed the impact of WRF horizontal resolution on offshore wind farm power estimates; ran multiple WRF+Fitch simulations on HPC (Slurm/Linux) for 20+ North Sea wind

    ForWind - Center for Wind Energy Research

    Worked on aeroelastic model validation using OpenFAST and wind tunnel measurements (time-domain + spectral analysis of loads). Generated wind fields (with TurbSim to match lab conditions) and ran aeroelastic simulations to improve model/measurement agreement. Implemented Dynamic Induction Control in FAST.Farm to mitigate wake losses and evaluated power vs. structural-life trade-offs. Conducted fatigue load analysis (DEL) for the 2-turbine Vivaldi research farm, aligned with IEC 61400.

    Supported technical design and layout planning for solar projects using CAD; performed basic electrical sizing for PV arrays and batteries. Contributed to resource assessment / site potential work (solar and wind) and learned project planning steps for renewable plants.

    Designed a small hybrid rocket engine for a rocketry competition (mechanical design and integration-ready CAD). Performed CFD simulations of internal flow/combustion-related behavior using ANSYS Fluent to support design decisions. Supported manufacturing and testing, including preparation of test hardware and analysis of test results.

Project outcome: 3rd place in the National Rocketry Competition (rocket design).
