Approx. 300 direct reports in the operations teams and dispatching team plus 200 informal reports in Maintenance and other engineering Horst site teams. Gelsenkirchen refinery consists of two sites, the Petrochemical oriented Scholven and the fuel oriented Horst site, which also includes the Bottrop tank farm. The Gelsenkirchen Horst refinery processes approx. 5 million tons / a or 100 kbbl / day of crude oil in four unit areas.

Decision authority on prioritization, structuring, coordination and project front end loading of the compliance / infrastructure project activity of the entire refin-ery revex and capex projects. The compliance / infrastructure project portfolio spend amounts to approx. 150 m$/a.

Full Operator Responsibility for a small sized chemical company (DHC Solvent Chemie GmbH) with 75 employees at one production site, a turnover of $150 m/a and approx. $15 m/a EBIT.

Delivery on a refinery margin capture improvement program through constraint pushing and establishing operating modes that improve margin at no or very low cost investment such as yield and throughput optimization. This was achieved by rigorous target setting, optimized DCS control loops and small scale debottleneck-ing projects.

Unit area Reformer and Utilities at BP / Rosneft joint venture refinery Gelsenkir-chen, Horst site. Coordination and alignment of operating modes with production planning and other unit areas. Adjustment of operating modes via shift leader and operator in-structions.

Retrospective analysis and evaluation of alternative options in refinery operation and production planning decisions so as to identify at which planning stages sys-tematic errors occur. Covering the BP / PDVSA joint venture refineries Bayernoil, MiRO and PCK.

Determination of steady state operating points of chemical production plants based on dynamic black box simulation models.
