I studied the role of the Dna2 protein in Pif1-independent break-induced replication (BIR) in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. I identified the dispensability of Dna2’s helicase activity for rescuing BIR in the absence of Pif1 and discovered the impact of Dna2 overexpression on BIR and de novo telomere addition. I characterized a novel interaction region between Dna2 and Sgs1 and identified a physical interaction between Dna2 and Rad27. In addition my PhD involved studying S. cerevisiae telomerase.
