Dr. Benjamin Berntsson

My doctoral research was on the "Development and Characterisation of Galactosynthases for Application in Organic Synthesis" under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Pietruszka (Institute for Bioorganic Chemistry, Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf). This position also included teaching and supervision responsibilities of bachelor and master students of both chemistry and biochemistry.

Undertaking an internship in organic chemistry within the Laundry & Home Care division with a specific focus on the development of novel fragrance delivery systems for laundry detergents.

The National Dinosaur Museum has the largest collection of prehistoric fossil material in Australia. In addition to the educational tourism, they also stock a large variety of fossils, gems and minerals. I managed staff and tour groups during after-hours special opening times and was also involved in retail management, and customer service. A significant project was the overhaul and update of our exhibition; including collaborating with experts to ensure accuracy of information.

The ANU Chemistry Department is ranked among the highest in the world and utilises its later-year students to assist in the teaching of undergraduates. It was my role as a demonstrator to educate first-year students in the practical aspects of chemistry research and the application of principles taught to them in their lectures. I was responsible for the students in the laboratory, and for the marking of their homework assignments.

Blue Ink Office Supplies (formerly WC Penfold) is a small, Canberra owned and operated office supplies business. It catered to both retail and commercial clients with a developing focus on business-to-business stationery supplies. I was involved in many areas of the business not limited to but including: Customer service; management (stock, staff, warehouse; and delivery.
