Christophe Geuens

Internship as a fluidic design engineer in the propulsion department. RFA is a private company aiming to develop an orbital launch vehicle enabling affordable, commercial space launch from within Europe. I joined before the company went public and mostly designed fluidic systems such as the engine feed system and pressurant valves.

Urania is an observatory with an organisation for youth I have been involved in since 2003. Since 2013, I’ve presented several 12-hour courses on astronomy, space engineering, sustainable transportation, thermal rocket propulsion, etc.

Responsible for fuel cell system in a unique student racing team at TU Delft. We realised the first hydrogen electric race car to ever directly compete in a race. Responsibilities included leading a team of 8 engineers, partner and sponsor contact, planning, financials, and promotion of the team. Experienced a full design cycle from concept to production, testing and racing.

Studies focussed on disciplines such as turbomachinery, combustion, and simulation. Thesis: development of an adjoint-based inverse design method for axial compressors. Top of class, GPA: 8.9/10.

Six-month master-level exchange focussed on microtechnology and robotics. Average grade of 5.5/6. Received scholarship from the SEMP-programme.

One of 15 Aerospace Honours students. Program includes several courses including the development of various soft skills. Also conducted an independent research proejct which focussed on gelled rocket propellants. Grade of 8.3/10.

Engineering Bachelor focused on aerospace engineering, but with a broad basis similar to mechanical engineering. Graduated the programme in the nominal three years, cum laude and with honours. Total average of 8.7/10.
