Francisco Javier Leal Valera

In January 2019 I joined Plastic Omnium as a CAD engineer in their Intelligent Exterior Systems division, where I designed and drew technical solutions for plastic parts.

Based on my freelance work for the product design consultancy, I was offered a permanent position and became one of the two in-house product design engineers. I gained experience in the whole design process, from initial research and feasibility studies, through concept development, into engineering, verification, validation and specification for manufacture.

Arriving in the UK, I had the opportunity to work for several design studios and get involved in many different tasks on a diversity of projects in various sectors. My professional career in London started with an internship in Camerlengo Design. After that, I collaborated with several studios and clients including JNDC, Gm Design Development, Aleutia Ltd, Crater Innovation and Torrent Miranda S.L.

In this small consulting firm, I was commissioned to create and strengthen the brand identity of new and existing clients, creating logos, corporate identity manuals, posters and promotional material for exhibitions, and icons and user interfaces for software solutions.

As part of my university studies, I completed a 3 month internship in the design studio, developing a range of outdoor rotomolded furniture, and various patterns and textures to be used in different projects and products.
