As a technical lead, I work on the long-term vision and core concepts for Make's next-gen AI capabilities - connecting autonomous agents with reliable, deterministic workflows - while looking at broader AI and LLM initiatives across the platform.

XcelAI applies analytics and artificial intelligence integrated with drug development expertise to advance the next wave of medicines and to significantly improve the clinical and regulatory success of drug development. We are growing an AI team focused on the identification of improved therapies in neuroscience and immuno-oncology (IO). Our main customer is BioXcel, LLC.

Designed company AI strategy (cloud infrastructure, Azure, analytics, AI, LLMs, agents, data) in cooperation with the Heads of preclinical Neuroscience and Immuno-Oncology. Generated 20+ new comprehensive drug repurposing concepts up to Target Product Profiles. Regularly presented to the CSO and CEO. Partnered with Business Development, Sales, Commercial, and Clinical Operations to deliver on their goals by leveraging GenAI, automation, and analytics. Stayed on top of compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, GxP , …).

The focus of my role was to lead digital transformation efforts with respect to data and analytics and especially artificial intelligence and machine learning: formulate strategy, prepare and defend budgets, be a proxy and translate between technical and biological/pharmaceutical domains Member of software engineering and data science leadership teams, leading 360+ and 200+ people respectively.

Led an AI group focused on global internal AI consulting and AI development: - AI experts with computer science and biology backgrounds, - developers, product/project managers, architects, designers, … Delivered a broad range of novel solutions in R&D, drug discovery, clinical, manufacturing, pharmaco-vigilance, RWE. Influenced enterprise architecture. Member of software engineering and data science leadership teams, leading 360+ and 200+ people respectively.

Led a team to solve business problems using AI, analytics, and automation - NLP , fulltext search, microservices, ML, knowledge graphs, AWS, - research - worked with early drug development scientists, - proved business value and technical feasibility, systems architecture.

Spin-off of DERI/Insight NUIG based on the success of Sindice.com - the then largest Semantic Web search engine. Contributed to the design and development of the next generation big data pipeline for the then largest Semantic Web search engine Sindice.com. Developed Hadoop map-reduce algorithms, implemented a distributed message aggregation system. Contributed to Lion 2, LOD2, and Insight (Linked Data) EU projects.

Skill sharing startup.

Researched symbolic AI - knowledge representation and reasoning. Focused on designing new and practical algorithms for semantic databases. Thesis about incremental algorithms for maintenance of materialized views in deductive databases, the design of a rule-based language, UX of the language, and explainability of inference. Sun technologies evangelism among LMU students.

Worked on Service Oriented Architecture governance system as a member of Policy Manager team. Responsible for Java generated reports about web services validation results, analysis and programming of new Policy Manager features in Java J2EE.

Started on automatization of Solaris and Java Desktop System testing, then became member of translation tools team that managed the Sun Translation Memory (TM) system and translation workflow. Responsible for developing automated tests and utilities for the TM, fixing bugs, implementing new features. Lead a small team of interns that implemented my idea how to facilitate software project management in globalization division of Sun Microsystems using Semantic Web technologies.
