Jenny Melo

I carried out this project financed by the PRIME program of the DAAD, between Germany and Portugal at the University of Aveiro, where I studied the effects of elevated temperature in the development and photophysiology of sea slugs.

During my PhD, I worked with NGS (Illumina, Nanopore), including sample/library prep and bioinformatic analysis for marine animal genomes/transcriptomes. I gained hands-on experience in immunostaining, immunoblotting, qPCR, and metabarcoding. I also taught theory and practical courses, and communicated science through publications, oral presentations, and posters.

Digitization of the collection inventory in the Biohistoricum section and the Lepidoptera section of the ZFMK

Performing molecular biological analyses for the diagnosis of genetic diseases, infectious diseases, and chromosomal rearrengements linked to leukemia. Interpretation of analytical results and preparation of diagnostic reports. Management and maintenance of laboratory equipment for PCR, qPCR, and Sanger sequencing.
