I was a qualified attending ophthalmologist from China. Now I am very interested in the visual cortex. How does the brain change after retinal degeneration? I will use multiple biology methods including autoradiography and immunohistochemistry as well as proton MRS to answer this question.

Retinitis pigmentosa is an inherited eye disease characterized by the progressive death of photoreceptors and finally leading to blindness, however without an effective treatment so far. I am motivated by how the visual cortex changes to adapt to the deafferent of retinal input along the process of retinal degeneration at a molecular level by using in vitro autoradiography, MRS, and immunostaining.

It was a three-year master's study, including a half-year theory study, a half-year full-time internship, and 2-year master's project in the lab.

It was a five-year medical education including a 3.5-year theory study in a university, which is integrated with part-time clinical practice, and a 1.5-year full-time internship in a hospital, in which I got a department rotation ranging from surgery to inner medicine, from outpatient to inpatient.
