Jonas Chen

Since my middle school teacher approached me with a wonderful idea in 2010, I have been pursuing the vision of providing affordable eyeglasses to disadvantaged people worldwide and contributing to the economic empowerment of impoverished people. By working in different roles in a Japanese Restaurant, I satisfied the needs of guests through welcoming, serving and live-cooking.

During my bachelor studies, I encouraged students and adults to dance, in particular B-Boying, and shared my cultural experience with them.

During my high school, I was certified as Electronics Technician for Equipment and Systems (as per § 37 German Vocational Training Act) by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry after completing the two-and-half years Dual Education Program at Siemens AG.

After the middle school, I participated in a two-weeks full-time seminar with students and researchers from Europe about topics climate change and new energy technologies, and contemporary dance at the European Talent Academy 2010 in Lindau. My curiosity and interest in science and technology was further developed through interactive weekend workshops about organic electronics, micro-mechatronics and communication technologies at the annual Fraunhofer-Talent-Schools in Munich.
