Architect, develop, optimize, maintain, and help lead an N-tier Java-based web-based application, named Biobank, used to manage over 600,000 bio-samples worldwide (Java, Hibernate, JBoss, JEE, SWT, Spring); Database design, administration, and query optimization (SQL/MySQL)

Bid on and completed dozens of 3 hour to 300 hour contracts involving various programming languages, frameworks, and tools; Extended a Java daemon and a PHP web-interface used to aggregate foreign exchange data and execute trades, using the FIX protocol over TCP/IP; Developed the front and back end of a recurring billing module, using PHP and MySQL, to work with PayPal and other payment gateways

Worked on two released videogames: "Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood" and "Dragon Age: Origins" (C++); Helped implement post-release downloadable content authorization, management systems, and GUIs that dealt content packages to millions of users (C++, ActionScript); Worked closely with writers and designers to gather requirements and then implemented tools to expedite their work (C#, C++); Investigated and solved bugs across various domains, including GUIs, content packaging, and localization

Continued research and development part-time during university education

Received Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Undergraduate Student Research Award ($4500); Created a 90%+ accurate classifier using support vector machines to predict protein locations in a cell, based only on amino acid sequence (OO-Perl, SVM); Parallelized and distributed training and classifying algorithms, using C and Perl, to significantly reduce execution time by as many computers as are available
