Dr. Julia Schaumeier

At TU Munich, I worked at the Automation and Information Systems Group (Mechanical Engineering), on a project about managing recurring patterns in innovation processes, focussing on the integrated development of product–service systems (based on existing technical products). This research is closely related to cyber–physical systems and digital transformation in manufacturing industries.

My research at the UCL Energy Institute focuses on the analys of a very large dataset for the identification of ship movements. From this I deduct behavioural patterns and the effect of regulations on the shipping industry. My responsibilites include designing a suite of tools that enable researchers of varying programming proficiency to easily extract knowledge from the dataset, and creative visualisation of research outcomes.

My responsibilities at the Business School included: Scoring inventions submitted to a large telecommunication company by the public, developing improvements for the online submission tool, suggesting alternative scoring categories, optimising the scoring process for employees.
