April 2003 present: Working as an English teacher in Marbella giving private classes at all levels from beginners to advanced. I keep myself up to date technically reading books and developing software for personal use.

Department: Technology. Software Development, January 2003 April 2003: Short term contract working for NetThink Media S.L. in Marbella. The contract involved writing subroutines in PHP to update and maintain a SYBASE database across the internet.

Department: Technology. Software Development, July 2000 October 2002: Developing a database application for MAREMAGNUM TECHNOLOGIES S.L. in Nueva Andalucia. The project involved putting the Yellow Pages for Malaga and Melilla on CD-ROM and developing a user interface with full search and retrieval facilities. Development was done in Visual Basic 6.

Department: Other, December 1998 - June 2000: Working as the co-ordinator of studies in a language school and developing a database in Visual Basic 6.

Department: Technology. Applications & Support, June 1998-September 1998: I was a team leader on a project in Tempotel (Madrid) porting a database from DBASE III (MS-DOS) to Meta4 (Windows NT).

Department: Technology. Applications & Support, September 1995 - February 1997: Worked for Microsol supporting and enhancing two of their systems. One of these monitors the operation of the public telephone network (card and coin phones) throughout the country. The other monitors the underground cables (for telephones) countrywide. Department: Technology. Applications & Support, March 1995 - June 1995: Worked as a contractor for Sun Microsystems doing regression testing on Solaris 2.5 (System 5 Release 4 compatible). This involved running a set of test suites on the kernel and analysing test failures to see whether the failure was due to the test being simply out of date with respect to the operating system or due to a genuine system bug.

Applications & Support, August 1994 - December 1994: I was a self employed contractor working for Retix Ireland porting an RFC1006 implementation from a version of UNIX which accesses TCP/IP via a streams interface to a version of UNIX which accesses TCP/IP via a sockets interface. January 1993 - June 1994: Software Development Manager for NTS in Ireland. I put in place the procedures for specifying, writing, documenting and testing software. First I developed utilities to convert files of various formats to pure binary, for example ASCII to binary. The second part was to program the Flash EPROMs on the various boards comprising the B20 system. Department: Technology. Software Development, June 1991 - December 1991: Worked at Siemens-Nixdorf in Augsburg. I developed the multiplexor which is part of the firmware in terminals connected to MX300 and MX500 computers. The flow control and error checking of the multiplexor was based on a hybrid of the HDLC protocol. The multiplexor was developed in C and debugged using the Intel 8031 ICE.

Department: Technology. Software Development, October 1990 - January 1991: Developed the user interface to a program which controlled lathes and water cutting equipment. The program ran under UNIX and the interface used the CURSES library. January 1991 - June 1991: Developed a program to integrate mathematical functions. This program, written in C, ran under UNIX. The mathematical integration was done using an algorithm based on Gaussian Quadrature Rules.

Department: Production - Quality, I was in charge of software production. I computerized the purchasing of supplies and processing of customer orders using DBASE III. I developed a very fast telephone directory and address book with full editing functions in 8086 Assembly language.

Throughout my college degree I did a lot of advanced calculus and quite a bit of numerical analysis. It was through the numerical analysis courses that I came in contact with computing.
