Implementation (Java/SQL) and project organisation activities, as well as accompanying research activities in a research project with the goal of implementing a pilot micro smart grid (http://www.bemobility.de/bemobility-de/start/bemobilty_12_13/).

Within “Project e1ns” IBM deploys the SAP modules FS-CD und FS-ICM for an Insurance company. I supported the project in developing test cases, development testing and testing with the functional department. I could obtain knowledge of the consulting profession at customer’s site, SAP FS-CD and the insurance sector. I could gain experience in working with the functional administrators 1-on-1 and also guiding an Indian offshore team.

The Newcastle Shared Service Center provides Human Resource Services to Procter & Gamble. For the Pensions Department I independently deployed a so far unused Work Flow functionality to improve the main pension processes and prepared and provided the team with the necessary training and documentation. I could also gain experience in analysing and modelling business processes.

The goal of this internal Global Business Services (GBS) project is to implement a Cognos based Business Intelligence portal for GBS executives to analyse business figures in the respect of Service Lines, Industries, and Portfolio Topics. I worked on improving data quality in the source operational systems and implemented, maintained and improved reports in Cognos Report Studio. I could gain experience in working with an Indian offshore team.

GBS is IBM’s division for consulting services. In this internship I could support several projects with researching activities. I could get an insight into the consulting profession in the Public Sector, bid proposal preparation and multi project management. I had an overview over SAP and security related topics, and the 7th Framework Programme (FP7), a European program to support research and development.

The PSC is the contact point for IBM Business Partners for Small and Medium Businesses. In the context of an internship I helped to plan customer events such as a bus trip for customers and Business Partners to CeBIT and the “Innovation onTour”, an event at Business Partner sites, in the Territory East. Besides an insight into event management and having customer contact at both of the events I could get an insight into Marketing and Sales for Small and Medium Businesses.
