I was part of a research group that worked on various implementations of OFDM, among them multi-Tb/s fiber transmission with a single laser. Part of the work dealt with grant proposals and project coordination.

My tasks include programming a realistic model of an optical fiber link (MATLAB), analytical and statistical investigation of nonlinear polarization phenomena during data transmission (some Mathematica), presentation of the results at various international conferences, and supervision of students.

My tasks included designing hermetic packages for optoelectronic and MEMS components (using SolidWorks), automation and simplification of designing photolithographic masks (a mixture of L-Edit, Clewin and Excel-Macros), simulation and analysis of the optical coupling between optical fiber and lasers/photodiodes with various ball lenses (ZEMAX and ASAP), design and analysis of HF circuits on the package and on flexible printed circuits (HFSS), and measurements in the cleanroom.
