Helping in fildwork of studies concerning Crop growth and crop rooting

My task was the assesment of plant communities in the Wicklow Mountains, Ireland, to analyze the suitability of land for afforestation. Basis for the assesment was the "Forest Service Afforestation Scheme" (Forest Service, Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine, Johnstown Castle Estate, Co. Wexford, Ireland) where indicative plants give information about soilcharakteristics (Ellenberg).

I was involved in a project as part of the international project "Connecting Nature", which adresses urban nature-based solutions. My main focus was on the assesment of plant-animal interactions in urban meadows, collecting data to construct plant-insect visitor interaction networks and determaine the role of plant and insect traits. Fieldwork involved plant and insect sampling , measurement of plant and insect traits. Lab work involved insect identification and preservation, as well as data entry.

Supervision in the Bachelor course of botanical studies. Helping with microscopig work and botanical drawings as well as teaching plant evolution and physiology.

Bachelor's thesis “Quantum dots and scopal pollen – Heriades truncorum as a pollinator of Asteraceae”. The project concentrated on pollen tracking by quantum dots and assesment of pollination effectiveness. Fieldwork included plant-insect interaction and determning the role of bee traits and behaviour in pollination. Lab work involved pollen identifcation, pollen counting and measurement of plant traits as well as statistical data analyzes with R Statistics.
