Aggregation and quality control of 640 million variants across 60.000 patients from individual whole genome datasets to one joint dataset. This dataset is publicly available via the Genomics England Research environment

• Main focus of work is on analysis and QC of genetic and epigenetic data • This includes: QC of 450K and EPIC chips, Conducting EWAS and related downstream analysis, Haplotype estimation (Imputation) of Genetic data, conducting GWAS and downstream analysis • Responsible for all NFBC related task in ALEC consortium (http://www.alecstudy.org) • Participation in divers genetic consortia (Eagle, Spirometer, EGG)

• genome wide DNA methylation analysis from lung cancer, lung fibrosis and COPD patients on Illumina´s 450K arrays. • Validation of DNA methylation biomarker candidates in tissue and plasma • Participation in a consortium of 11 research groups from 9 different nationalities • Micro-array based genome wide analysis of mRNA/miRNA expression lung fibrosis patients and concordant data analysis

• Optimization of cell-free serum DNA isolation strategies • Testing of genome wide amplification methods • Testing of optimized protocols on serum samples of breast cancer patients • Recombinant expression of the MBD-protein in E.coli and His-Tag purification of the protein for subsequent isolation of cell-free DNA
