Mattis thor Straten

PhD student at the Department of Computer Science, conducting research at the intersection of Data Science, Machine Learning, and Knowledge Graphs. My research focuses on knowledge discovery in spatial heterogeneous graphs, with a particular emphasis on developing scalable methods for analyzing complex, interconnected data. In addition, I contribute to Research Data Management (RDM) and Research Software Engineering, developing sustainable research infrastructures and software within NFDI4Objects.

Research associate in the ROOTS Cluster of Excellence for creating, maintaining and updating an interdisciplinary database as backbone of the LandMan Web Portal. Further work in the field of Archaeoinformatics, such as data integration and visualization.

Supported the teaching and organization of the undergraduate course "Information Systems" at the Department of Computer Science.

Supported the teaching and organization of the undergraduate course "Algorithms and Data Structures" at the Department of Computer Science.

During my voluntary social year (FSJ) at a residential home for people with disabilities at the Stiftung Drachensee, I supported residents in organizing and managing their daily lives while fostering their independence. I planned and accompanied recreational activities and excursions and assisted with the day-to-day operations of the residential home, contributing to a supportive and well-organized living environment.
