Extending the overall size of the team and the management of the various subteams over the years and starting to expand the overall team by training and/or hiring new people to take over the management of the subteams.

Managing a team of 14 people, distributed across Europe and USA. The tasks now include typical soft skills and people management work like budgets, organization and resource and career planing while still being actively involved in leading some of the larger projects, like Fedora Secondary Arch for PPC and S390x.

My current resonsibility is to manage a small team of 8 engineers working on various projects and aspects of our Red Hat Enterprise Linux distribution. Additionally i'm the project leader of our power management initiative where we aim to improve the current state of power managemt in Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Design and implementation of an Oracle IFS Appletalk service.

Internationalization of Payments on marketplace (auctions/zShops). Design, functional specification and implementation of an EDIFACT based money transfer system as well as a risk scoring component using Experian and Creditreform.

Enterprise configuarion tools. Design and implementation of a squid configuration tool based on the rhclib parsing library using QT 2.2 as a graphical frontend.

Project in the area of online banking using Java. Further development and adaption of an existing Java Applet for a bank in Berlin for their relaunch. Several new protocols and interfaces had to be defined and implemented.

After new launch of the Metropolis AG continuing projetcs in the area of online communities and chat systems. My responsibilities included the development of a high performance user based FTP server for homepages based on the existing chat software code, providing homepage access for 500 000 users. Complete project was done additionally with PHP3 scripts and Apache. Also porting of a substantial amount of PHP3/MySQL based webpages to Oracle.

Design and implementation of a business process editor for medium to large businesses. Features include: - Very robust and clean concept which resulted in a very clean implementation - Multiplatform GUI, compiles without a single line of code change on any UNIX System and Windows 95/98/NT - HTML Export of process data: Only a web browser is neede to view and navigate through the process - Usable as a Intra/Internet solution for internal and external process without any additional software

Concept and implementation of the next generation chat system for www.metropolis.de. Features include: - Highly advanced technology to support more than 10,000 users per server simultaniously - Extremely modular design for easy extensability horizontally and vertically (new chat protocols, multiple linked servers etc.) - Pure C++ code using with a high code reuse via libraries and other base classes - Very robust design in terms of stability and memory leaks - Usable for other projects as well (ftp server)

Programming and consulting for a large scale production management software in Java. Implementation includes cross-platform development, dynamic GUI, handling of large databases (1.5GB data), multi language support, printing capabilties, EXCEL export and backends for existing databases.

Consultant and contractor for various projects including: - Concept, setup, installation and programming of a Web server to interface an existing software to external customers, including cgi-binaries, Java applet and remote processing through firewalls - Extension and optimization of an existing C++ software package for pattern recognition and regression estimation - Design and implementation of a global optimizer for very high dimensional functions to speed up test phase of pattern recognition estimation

System administration of networked Unix pool (SGI machines). Unix software compilation and installation. Software portation and extending existing packages. Custom programming projects to support researchers. System support for personal computers (Macintosh, DOS, Windows). Tutorials on different aspects of computer science.

Lead assistant for practical training courses for the lecture "Programming C". Also supported networking system administrator and installed/administrated various workstations, including Sun, HP and AIX.
