Rich Day

Currently I look after a very successful team of six developers. We are developing HR & financial software solutions either by customising our current product line or as part of our bespoke development service.

I was put in charge of internal and new product development. I also became more involved with the commercial side of the business at this time. Where required I still worked on bespoke development, helping our clients to produce several award winning financial and HR communications.

Initially responsible for developing a new front-end interface for an existing internal development platform. During my first year I started working with the internal development platform using C++, PostScript and PPML to fulfil the main business objective of developing bespoke data processing solutions for the HR and Financial industries. Other duties within my remit during this time were network security and maintenance, as well as software and hardware upgrades for the entire organisation.

My main duties were the day-to-day maintenance of the University’s central services. I was jointly responsible for the smooth running of over 60 servers (Sun, DEC Alpha, VAX, IBM-PC, Mac) delivered to more than 2,000 staff and students. My other tasks included network hardware installation and maintenance, network diagnostics and installation of structured cabling.

Employed as a part time Web Developer whilst studying at the University, I was responsible to the IT Manager for creating and maintaining staff webpages for the faculty intranet site.
