In the fall of 2013, I have been teaching the "Database Systems" part of a course entitled "Informatik für Ökonomen II" ("Computer Science for Economists II"), deputizing for Prof. Michael Böhlen. *** Since 2011, I am teaching a course entitled "Formale Grundlagen der Informatik I" (Formal Foundations of Computer Science) to first-semester students in Informatics in the Fall Semester.

* Leading the development of a Data Warehouse servicing the needs of quantitative risk measurement, in particular the computation of the 1-year Expected Shortfall (also called 1-year Tail Value at Risk). * 1997-2006, I held various other jobs in Risk Management and Information Technology on SVP-level, in areas like enterprise information management, data warehousing, and software development. * 1995-1997, I held various management, business analyst, and software development roles on VP-level.

* Leader of research group in expert systems (4 teaching & research assistants + affiliated under-grads). * Courses tought: Computer Science I + II, Knowledge-Based Systems I + II, Information Systems. * Examiner & co-examiner of doctoral dissertations. * Lecturer of courses for practitioners. * Research Projects: Deductive DBMS "LogiQuel" (cont.), Temporal Query Languages "ChronoLog" and "ChronoSQL", DBMS "DeCoR" supporting CLP techniques inside the DBMS, Deductive+OO DBMS "HYWIBAS"

Software Engineer working on the following projects: * “SunUnify Server”: adoption of the DBMS Unify to environment of networked PCs and servers, incl. handling communication between apps running on PCs and central DB server using RPC (Remote Procedure Call = “client/server”), and a simple DB session and lock manager. * “SchemaEdit”: implementation of a graph layout algorithm to draw entity-relationship diagrams based on the definitions of tables and foreign keys in the database system catalog.

Applied Computer Science Research, working on the following projects * “IRIS”: design and implementation of a prototype of an object-oriented DBMS, incl. the definition of an object-oriented data model and the detailed specification of C and Lisp interfaces to this data model; corresponding products named OpenODB and Odapter were marketed by HP in the 1990ies. * “HP System Dictionary” product: Consulting.

* Tutoring of undergraduates in weekly & term assignments and during their diploma theses. * Project “RDBETH”: Implementation of a relational DBMS on the CDC mainframe. * Project “Gambit”: Adaptation of graphical DB design tool Gambit on Lilith to support the modification of DB schemas and the reorganization of existing data. * “Computer Requirements at ETH”: Interviewer for a study of the “Betriebswirtschaftliches Institut". * Editor of “Informatik-Bulletin” for the computing community at ETH.
