Roger Studer

The mission of the Coulter Translational Partnership Program at Boston University is to identify, select, fund, develop, and commercialize promising projects undertaken together by biomedical engineering faculty and clinical faculty with an annual budget of $ 1 million.

Coordination and leading of interdisciplinary project teams from product idea to market launch through a phase-gate design control process based on PMI standards under minimal supervision.

Responsible for Straumann Bone Level Prosthetics portfolio and CARES portfolio (customized CADCAM Abutments) consisting of 350+ products with a double-digit growth rate. Responsible for strategic claim development, product positioning and pricing, provides input to product strategy. Drive market introduction of new products, oversee and support local product managers during local launch.

Developed 100+ products as Technical Project Leader in 10 projects from idea to launch. Provided and evaluated different product concepts, planned and performed verification and validation testing in compliance to standards and established Design History Files.

Developed the Occipito-Cervical Fusion System consisting of plates, clamps, rods, screws and instruments in close collaboration with the US development team. Established the Design History File and all necessary Regulatory documentation for CE Mark approval.

Designed, drew and built a fatigue testing machine by using Solid Edge to test up to ten finger joint implants together in saline.

Took over and independently led two research projects for 5 months resulting in a functional five-axis testing machine to analyze fatigue strength of spinal implants and a MATLAB program for gait analysis with infrared markers, measuring relative movements within the knee.
