As a start-up team member, I am involved in ‘Concept to Creation’ in all areas of the start-up including Business Planning, Financial Planning, designing & Implementation of systems and procedures, recruitment and training, negotiated all major contracts, Assets acquisitions, Sale & lease back and went up to setting up the routes and out station branch offices across the network.

My aim was to do a complete turn-around to bring back the airline into profitability, which was achieved in 9 months, developed a long term operational strategies for next 7 years, brought additional capital through external funding, expanded operational network, enhances sales channels and implemented various systems and procedures to support the business growth and decision making.

SpiceJet (SG) is a Public Limited Company listed in Bombay Stock Exchange, operates a fleet of B737 and Bombardier Q400s from it’s home base New Delhi (DEL), operating around 500+ flights per day to various domestic and international destinations of Far East, Middle East and India. Apart from normal day today financial management and statutory reporting, restructuring debts, re-negotiating all major contracts by keeping the vendor acceptances, implementing cost control measures etc

Implemented Zero Based Budgeting first time, trained more than 1000 participants across their network, implemented in-house systems for a decentralized budget exercise, built the team to support the financial planning and budgeting team. Managed the Change Management effectively.

Preparation of various business cases and proposals for expansions, implementing measures to reduce the Operating Cost, implemented own idea of an in-house software named ‘Daily Activity Reporting Tool (DART)’ under the principle of ‘Activity Based Costing’ to report real-time cost from the place of occurrence, which supports detailed Flight Route Profitability reports. Acknowledged with many awards for Innovation.

Apart from my normal responsibilities of a finance supervisor, I part took in a full cycle ERP implementation for the airline, got tremendous exposure in all major functional processes in all areas of business.
