Product manager, lead and senior engineer in the Data Platform team, working across multiple teams and projects. Organised SageMaker Immersion Day for ML engineers. Upgraded mission-critical telemetry from unsupported Tensorflow/EMR/PySpark to latest versions. Led ML developer platform initiative with SageMaker and MLflow. Built Spark/PySpark CI pipeline for cross-architecture testing. Maintained and improved data infrastructure on AWS (EMR, S3, Glue, Athena, SageMaker, Lambda, Step Functions).

Added Azure Blob Storage and Snowflake to complete the Data Platform alongside Kafka. Initiated re-architecture sessions for Kafka and Snowflake. Motivated team split into warehousing, ingestion, and platform teams. Bootstrapped 50+ developers on Kafka via Confluent and Aiven training. Arranged architectural workshops with Snowflake. Stepped into architectural role focusing on platform tooling and data infrastructure reliability.

First member of the data engineering team. Drew the initial architecture for RELEX's Kafka implementation and scaled the team across Helsinki and Lisbon. Set up, configured, and maintained 12 production Kafka clusters across US, EU, and APAC regions using Terraform and GitLab GitOps. Screened, interviewed, mentored, and onboarded resources in Helsinki and Lisbon, scaling the team to 8. Helped Lisbon team deliver its first customer commitment within 8 months. Managed performance reviews and mentoring.

Re-assigned to RELEX Workforce optimization team during COVID-19. Led the data team ensuring customer deadlines were met, facilitating technical consultants and product owners in requirements validation, backlog creation, testing, and solution verification. Addressed technical backlog, drove hiring and recruitment, and improved test coverage and quality. Left the team after about a year to start a new data engineering team at RELEX.

Short assignment before being re-allocated to a new team in anticipation of economic fallout from COVID-19 lockdowns. Time was spent onboarding, learning about RELEX Solutions and their offerings, and prototyping Apache Airflow for internal usage. Skills: Azure, Containerization, Linux, Python, SQL, Git, Airflow.

Independent consultant helping organisations digitise, launch and scale their products. Worked extensively on data-driven projects in Private Banking, Commercial Banking, and Public Health sectors. Started as a solo developer in South Africa, grew the practice to a team, and eventually relocated to Finland. Built and delivered solutions across multiple domains and technology stacks over 8 years.
