Modelling and Analysis of mechanical joints subjected to crash loadings with Hypermesh and LS-DYNA. In this work 2D process simulation of Self Pierce Riveted joint and Clinching joint in Al6060 alloy was investigated using LS-DYNA software. An algorithm was developed for mapping of stresses onto 3D joint specimen. Failure analysis of self pierce riveted joint under tensile, peel and shear loading is carried out. 1D element is suggested which describes exact joint failure
