Biosynthetic models should be deposited with each chemical structure, containing information about building blocks, their linkage, and modifications. The aim is to relate them to the enzymatic activities (domains) expected to perform during biosynthesis. This requires development of a database- compatible markup language, "BiosynML". These models can then be matched against predictions from genome information, as they are obtained.

A database project ("Myxobase") aimed at collecting and linking chemical and biological information about known myxobacterial natural products and the producing strains has recently been initiated at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology . The main task is organizing a big amount of information into relational database with all necessary linkages and the design of a well functioning graphic user interface.
