I joined OUP on a freelance basis to help with ad hoc editorial projects as well as work on an English/Arabic dictionary project.

I worked on the selection of topics and articles to be published in the magazine as well as brainstorming for new campaigns, workshops and activities. I liaised with writers, assigned topics, organized interviews with celebrities or teen talents, participated in events, wrote articles and interacted with teens on a daily basis.

I joined Earthscan's team to help complete one of their editorial projects. My duties were mainly; transferring scanned texts into readable Word format, adding book blurbs and contents to the company's database, doing picture research, scanning all contracts as well as browsing through them for legal information and updating contact lists.

I was given several editorial and publicity tasks including assessing unsolicited material, writing reports about fiction and non-fiction book proposals, doing publicity research about websites, blogs, magazines, newspapers, radio stations and universities that could be of relevance to new books published by Duckworth. Moreover, I handled other duties like typing or updating book listings.

I worked in the editorial department with both fiction and non-fiction books, I had duties involving assessing new book proposals, proofreading book drafts and proofs along with doing research to double check facts stated in books. In addition, I took on publicity tasks such as contacting newspapers, magazines and radio stations, arranging author interviews and publicising new books through book blogs and clubs.

 I worked in different departments of the company, was introduced to different aspects of publishing and given tasks in a variety of fields like sales, rights, accounts, production and editorial. I helped with the editing and proofreading of various book chapters as well as doing other minor jobs such as correcting data bases, scanning, filing, photocopying and editing e-books format.

I joined this literary agency for a week where I helped with some office duties like filing documents, answering the phone and sending letters to clients. Furthermore, I had some editorial duties like reading and evaluating unsolicited manuscripts as well as proofreading articles and poems.
