• Responsible for growth of Islamic wholesale banking business by expanding Islamic value proposition for clients, reducing costs vs. income, and increasing team and system efficiency through incorporation of new technology.

• Led structuring and execution of Sukuk and Islamic structured finance transactions as part of the regional debt capital markets team of CIMB, which has been ranked #1 globally in Sukuk for 8 out of 11 years during the period 2007-2017 in Bloomberg Global Sukuk League Table.

• Jointly responsible for managing and growing the USD 1.9 billion AUM business of CIMB Principal Islamic asset management (CPIAM) and Islamic portion (approximately 52%) of USD3.8 billion CIMB Principal Asset Management business of the CIMB Group. • Worked on origination & led structuring of Sukuk transactions as part of the CIMB Global Sukuk team (cross-functional role).

• Advised on private equity investments by CIMB Mapletree including debt refinancing, operational restructuring and divestment of MYR 500 million Jaya Shopping Centre.

• Leda dedicated team for the USD287 million Islamic Infrastructure Fund. • Reviewed over 25 investment opportunities in Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Maldives in infrastructure, health and education sectors. • Notable deals included investments in two wind farms in Pakistan, an electric utility in Kazakhstan, a solar energy company in Malaysia and a telecommunication company in Indonesia.

• Led a team of five professionals for USD 320 million cement plant in Kurdistan, Iraq as the sponsor and major equity investor. • Led sourcing, syndication, structuring and due-diligence of project and corporate finance transactions in the Middle East.

• Played a key role in raising of a USD 100 million Libya Fund and making its first investment in a drilling rig company. • Supervised a team of associates led the deal process, including analysis & valuation of potential investments, conducting qualitative & quantitative due-diligence, deal structuring, documentation, execution and coordination of transaction process and post-acquisition monitoring of investments.

• Led origination, structuring and execution of project and technical assistance loans and grants, advised and assisted potential clients on IDB financing, negotiated financing agreements, presented investments to the IDB Board, and monitored the approved financings. • Managed a portfolio of projects totaling approximately USD 2.3 billion (IDB financing approximately USD 500 million) in oil & gas, transport, power, telecommunication, automotive and industrial sectors in several Asian countries.

• Evaluated a Rural Electrification Project in Nicaragua • Studied impact of using depth of poverty indicators in formulating poverty reduction strategies • For World Economic Forum’s Latin American Competitiveness 2001-2002 carried out the analysis to assess the competitiveness of countries in the Andean Region of Latin America.

• Managed projects up to USD 1 million from initial development through fund approval, FEED & detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout. Completed projects include erection of oil and gas production facilities, water purification plants and laying of cross-country pipelines. • As Drawing Office Supervisor, independently managed a drafting team of five persons - two CAD drafters, two piping designers and one technical assistant.
