Thomas Griffin

I taught a Business English class for international adult students at Language Studies International in Boston, U.S.A. This class met every afternoon, Monday-Thursday and covered topics such as watching and discussing TED Talks, famous economic events and figures, and simulating business practices.

I taught international teenagers (China, Japan, Mali, Senegal) on the Tufts University Campus as part of the Embassy Summer Program, Boston chapter. The students had English lessons by morning, and then in the afternoon, I and the rest of the staff would take them on tours of the city, teach them how to play American sports, or give cultural seminars.

This was a company I worked for in Saigon, Vietnam, which contracted me out to schools in and around the city. At these schools I taught IELTS Preparation, English for Children, and one-to-one Technical English.

This was a position I had as a freelancer when I first arrived in Germany. The school is based in Frankfurt, but I only taught at certain businesses they sent me to, such as Deutsche Bank, Areva, and Dyckerhoff, Inc. These companies were all in the Frankfurt area except for Dyckerhoff, which was in Wiesbaden. With this job I was introduced to computer software that corresponded to the Market Leader textbook, the first time I had used software in my lessons.

This was a job I held for 13 months at Whole Foods Market in Boston. I was primarily a Delivery Driver for the store, but I also worked at least one day a week in the store as a cashier. Occasionally, I also counted inventory after hours.
