The topic I'm currently working on is plant connectivity (SAP Plant Connectivity), in the manufacturing context. This is about connecting the shopfloor with SAP backends like ME, MII, ERP, SAP Hana. Develpment environment is Vísual Studio using mainly C# (and some C++ in order to reuse COM and other C libraries). Technologies involved are, among others, Web services, web sockets, plain TCP/IP sockets, propietary interfaces, SAP NCo, OPC including OPC UA, handling of certificate based authentication.
