Dr. Thomas Vogt

I work at the Department of Supply Chain Management and Management Science. My expertise lies in the fields of (behavioral) management science, supply chain management, and incentive design for employee motivation and sustainable buying behavior. I did several consulting projects for the dean's office. I taught students in a variety of formats. For example, I supervised international master students on business projects at leading consulting firms, a global logistics provider, and a leading technology firm.

I was a student research assistant at the Department of Supply Chain Management and Management Science. Among other things, I programmed and conducted experiments, supported the research, teaching, and administration of the chair.

I analyzed incentive schemes and employee performance evaluations and derived potential for improvement for DHL in particular and the design of incentive schemes and performance evaluations in general.

I worked on various consulting projects in different fulfillment centers. Among other things, I analyzed various logistics processes and the workforce management and derived optimization potential for management.

I was a tutor at the Center for Macroeconomic Research, teaching macroeconomics to small groups of bachelor students.

I assisted with the WDR visitor tours and also conducted them.

I investigated incentive designs for employee motivation and sustainable customer buying behavior. My research lies at the intersection of management and behavioral economics. I studied how the design of monetary and non-monetary incentives can influence the behavior of employees and customers. More specifically, I researched how the design of performance appraisals influences employee performance and how pricing and sustainability messages influence customer purchasing decisions.
