During that time I analyzed the internal operation of VoIP and the different voice-codec (G.711, G.723.1, G.729 and AMR), networks (the architectures SIP, H.323 and MEGACO/SIGTRAN and its elements) and the protocols which take part in it (like UDP/TCP, IP, H.245, RAS, RTP, RTCP, RSVP, etc.). I also modelled IP network routers with the token bucket model (with both FCFS and uniform queuing) and simulated the packet losses occurred in them by developing a program in C.
